Shelter Medicine
Dr Barsky has been the medical director and surgeon/veterinarian at the Ulster County SPCA in Kingston, NY since 2014.
His duties at the shelter include maintaining the health and well-being of the shelter population, treating illness and injury for homeless or abandoned pets, performing examinations, wellness, and surgical procedures to prepare animals for adoption, as well as investigations of animal abuse and neglect with the humane law department.
Dr Barsky is the surgeon/veterinarian at the UCSPCA low cost, high volume spay and neuter clinic, providing over 1200 low cost surgeries and vaccine/wellness procedures to pets in our community yearly. The clinic also provides Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) services, to help reduce the population of and improve the health of feral and community cats.
Dr Barsky blends western medicine techniques/practices with a holistic approach to animal health in the shelter setting.
